ENGINE INFORMATION:
For those of you concerned about the Lycoming engine MSB/AD. According to
Lycoming this engine (Ser. # L-28116-4A, an IO-540-V4-A5) is covered by
MSB
569-A, which calls for the crankshaft to be replaced by 08-12-2014, or at
TBO
of 2,000 Hrs.
The crank is one of 5100 that are included, but to date NONE of the 5100's
have failed. Lycoming is offering a heavily discounted rebuild kit (including
a new crank) thru Feb. 2009. Also, there are several class action lawsuits
pending to force Lycoming to cover all the costs. Nothing is due for
